City Controller
Finance Department

Competition Number: 2014-41

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the City Controller supervises all accounting functions within the Finance Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises all accounting functions: accounts payable, accounts receivable, utilities, parking tickets, bank reconciliation, and general ledger
  • Reviews/prepares all journal entries including reconciling all sub-ledgers on a monthly basis
  • Directs the department with day to day transactions
  • Prepares various external and internal reports such as variance analysis, GST returns, statistical reports for Statistics Canada, Provincial/Federal Grand applications and follow ups
  • Maintains all accounting records, including preparation of all financial statements in conjunction with Director of Finance
  • Ensures proper execution of purchasing policies, credit applications, and procedures
  • Researches, develops, reviews and recommends procedures and policies for key finance functions
  • Responsible for Tangible Capital Asset project development and maintenance
  • Handles any public financial inquiries

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and public relations skills
  • CGA, CMA, CA designation
  • Bachelor Degree in Commerce or Administration – major in accounting or finance acknowledged
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; including advanced excel spreadsheet skills
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret legislation, agreements/leases and processes
  • Knowledge of accounting and principals governing the public sector
  • Possess and maintain RCMP security clearance.

Casual Kiosk Attendant
Gallagher Centre

Competition Number: 2014-46

Reports directly to the Financial Services Manager.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide friendly and courteous service and respond to customer inquiries and distribute information.
  • Receive switchboard calls for the City of Yorkton, Gallagher Centre and Ticketmaster.
  • Keep up-to-date on events in the City and all facilities to ensure effective service.
  • Handle customer complaints and forward to appropriate departments.
  • Receive bookings for all City facilities and ensure proper information is obtained from customers and that payment is processed.
  • To provide information and ticket sales for Ticketmaster and sell lottery tickets to the public, following legal requirements related to the sale and distribution of Saskatchewan Lottery, along with having to balance and account for all sale transactions.
  • Act as a call desk for emergency situations to ensure patrons have a positive experience.
  • Process admissions, registrations and memberships for the facility.
  • Responsible for Ticketmaster, Sask Lottery and Water Park cash balancing.

Qualifications:

  • One year related cash handling experience in customer service environment.
  • Knowledge of accepted procedures for handling cash, balancing transactions, and completing revenue collection reports.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Possess computer skills.
  • Must possess good interpersonal communications and public relation skills.
  • Must possess and maintain RCMP security clearance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Salary:

$15.89 per hour

Hours of Work:

Shift work, evening and weekend work is involved.
